A man who attacked a police officer, a bystander and a dog in a south-west London park has been jailed for more than three years.

Earl Petri, 33, of Eureka Road, Kingston-upon-Thames, pleaded guilty at Kingston Crown Court to six charges relating to the attack on 20 July.

After punching the officer unconscious in a car park, Mr Petri attacked a man who tried to come to the officer's aid.

He ran his car into both the bystander and the dog the man was walking.

The officer, who required hospitalisation, was conducting a routine patrol of the park when he was attacked, police said.

Dog dragged

A man walking a friend's dog, a labrador-poodle cross named Inca, tried to stop Mr Petri as he drove away from the car park.

But he was run down and the dog was dragged beneath the car, leading to injuries that required stitches.

The man who was walking her, who asked not to be identified, said of the dog: "We thought she was going to die."

Mr Petri pleaded guilty in Kingston Crown Court to one count of causing grievous bodily harm to the officer, one count of assaulting the bystander and one count of criminal damage to a dog.

He also pleaded guilty to three driving offences and was sentenced to a total of three years and three months in jail.
