Headcams to prevent train crimes

The Safer Travel team
The Safer Travel team will record footage on their head gear

Officers wearing headgear with cameras will be patrolling on trains to prevent anti-social behaviour and people evading fares, a train company said.

National Express' Safer Travel scheme will be used on routes between Liverpool Street in London and Shenfield in Essex.

The cameras will provide footage similar to CCTV and will act as a visible deterrent, the train firm said.

The scheme is supported by British Transport Police.

The scheme follows a similar initiative on the service's Colchester to Clacton route earlier this year.
