Melita Jo was beaten to death

A man has been charged with the murder of a homeless woman found beaten to death in a churchyard.

The body of Melita Jo, 53, was found a week ago in St Mary's Churchyard in Walthamstow, east London.

A post-mortem examination established the cause of death as blunt trauma to the head and body.

Jonathan Linzell, 30, of no fixed abode, is due to appear before Waltham Forest Magistrates Court accused of murdering Ms Jo.

Four other men have been arrested and bailed until later this month, while another two men remain in police custody.
