Human remains found in allotment

Human remains found in an east London allotment could be those of a 33-year-old woman who went missing nearly six years ago.

A skull and bones were found wrapped in a duvet at Walthamstow's Low Hall Farm allotments in August.

After DNA testing police believe they belong to Julie Dorsett, a sex worker who went missing from Hackney, east London, in October 2002.

Police said it was not clear whether she had been murdered.

Search continues

An incident room has been opened to try to piece together events from October 2002 until the time the remains were found.

A large quantity of human bones were found, but none from Ms Dorsett's lower body.

"We have only found her skull and bones from the top half of her body and searches continue for the rest of her remains," Det Insp Andy Chalmers said.

They have appealed for information from anyone who knew Ms Dorsett.

"Julie lived in Hackney but her remains have been found in Walthamstow - we need to find out why she was taken there" Det Insp Chalmers said.
