A man has been jailed for life for firing at a police officer during an operation in south-east London.
Joel Johnson, 19, of Hatcham Park Road, Lewisham, south-east London, admitted possessing a firearm and causing grevious bodily harm with intent.
He was found not guilty of attempted murder after no evidence was offered at Woolwich Crown Court.
The unnamed undercover officer was shot during a surveillance operation in New Cross on 22 December.
The officer sustained an injury to his hand, police said.
Johnson, who also admitted attempted grievous bodily harm, was ordered to serve a minimum term of eight years.
