Head injuries killed crash woman

Mrs Simpson died at the scene after being hit by the police car

A woman hit by a marked police car died from head and chest injuries, an inquest has heard.

Sandra Simpson, 61, was knocked down by the car close to her home in Bromley, south-east London, on Saturday night. She died at the scene.

The Croydon Coroner's Court hearing was adjourned until Mrs Simpson's body has been released. No members of her family attended the hearing.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating.

The car's blue lights and sirens were on at the time of the collision.

The IPCC said it would also look at the actions of the officers involved.
