Man dies after stabbing incident

A man in his forties has died after he was found stabbed in a south-east London street.

Ambulance personnel and police went to Northlands Street in Camberwell at about 2245 BST on Saturday after reports of the attack.

The victim was taken to King's College Hospital where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

No-one has been arrested and police say they are keeping an open mind about the motive.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating the incident and the area is cordoned off.

The Met say they believe they know the identity of the deceased, but are waiting for formal identification and for next of kin to be informed.

Post-mortem tests showed he died from a stab wound to the heart.
