Competitors planned the most efficient route through four checkpoints
The UK's greenest cars and bikes have competed in London to be named the most environmentally-friendly vehicle.
Drivers and cyclists travelled 24 miles through the capital while trying to use the least amount of fuel and emitting as little CO2 as possible.
Among the vehicles tested were hybrid petrol/electric cars and the world's first zero emission electric scooter.
Zoe Williams of Greater London Hire said hybrid cars were "more economic for the driver and you save on fuel".
'Quicker if efficient'
Former Formula One champion Damon Hill was among drivers competing in the Capital Arrive 'N' Drive challenge.
Participants had to plan the most efficient route to four checkpoints spread throughout the capital, starting at Horse Guards Parade in Westminster.
Mr Hill said: "When you are racing you are quicker if you are more efficient."

He added: "Of course you use up a lot of fuel in motor racing. The objective here is to try to promote other ways of getting around."
The annual challenge took place one day after Transport for London admitted black cab fares may go up if oil prices continue to rise.
Ms Williams said switching the firm's hire cars to hybrid vehicles had proved popular with customers.
"We have found we are able to keep costs down to a minimum," she said.
Thursday's most efficient vehicles will go through to the competition final in September.
