More time to quiz man over deaths

Police investigating the murders of two French students in south-east London have been given more time to question a 23-year-old man.

The bodies of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo were found stabbed and burnt in a bedsit in New Cross on 29 June.

Officers can now hold Daniel Sonnex, from Peckham, south-east London, until Sunday evening.

A 35-year-old man and a woman, aged 25, have been released on bail. A 33-year-old has been charged with the murders.

Nigel Farmer, of no fixed address, has also been charged with arson and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He appeared in court earlier this week and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 16 October.
