Security guards stabbed by youth

Oxford Circus
Oxford Street is the busiest shopping street in the UK

Two security guards have been stabbed after they chased a group of youths suspected of shoplifting from a store on Oxford Street in central London.

The injured men attempted to apprehend about eight teenagers outside the Nike Town shop on Saturday evening.

A 33-year-old guard suffered wounds to his arm and lower back and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His colleague, aged 21, was treated for a leg wound and a female guard, 22, was punched in the face in the incident.

The teenager who stabbed the guards lost his T-shirt during the scuffle outside the store and was last seen running topless towards Tottenham Court Road.
