A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old Norwegian student found in a basement of a block of flats in central London.

Martine Vik Magnussen's body was discovered under rubble in a block of flats in Great Portland Street.

She was last seen leaving Mayfair's Maddox Club in the early hours of 14 March. She died from neck injuries.

The man, from St Johns Wood in north-west London, was questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The man, who is in his 50s, was released on bail until May. He was arrested on Wednesday, police said.

Ms Vik Magnussen, who comes from a wealthy Norwegian family, had been a student at Regents Business School, Regents Park, since 2007.

Officers want to speak to fellow student Farouk Abdulhak who left for Yemen on the day Ms Vik Magnussen vanished. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Police said Yemeni national Mr Abdulhak was seen with Ms Vik Magnussen on the day she went missing.
