Killed boy 'mistaken for brother'

A 15-year-old boy was murdered in his bed by gunmen who mistook him for his older brother and shot him four times, the Old Bailey has been told.

Michael Dosunmu was asleep when the two men shot him with a sub-machine gun last February, the court heard.

The jury heard the men intended to kill his brother Hakeem, to avenge the murder of another man.

Mohammed Sanoh, 19, from Peckham, and Abdi Omar Noor, 22, from Camberwell, south-east London, deny murder.

Prosecuting, Jonathan Laidlaw QC said: "It was a well-planned and well-executed execution."

Drug dealing

Michael celebrated his 15th birthday days before he was shot on 6 February 2007.

Mr Laidlaw said the front door of the family home in Peckham had been forced open before the gunmen went up to the bedrooms.

"The intruders turned the light on and opened fire with a Mac-10 at a figure, lying wrapped in a duvet," he said. "That person had no chance of surviving."

Mr Laidlaw said Hakeem Dosunmu had been involved in drug dealing for about a month, and had been involved in three robberies from security firms.

Three days before the shooting Hakeem took part in a robbery with Mr Sanoh's friend Javarie Crighton, who was stabbed to death after confronting robbery organiser Orando Madden, the court was told.

Mr Madden subsequently surrendered to police, leaving Hakeem as Mr Sanoh's only target for revenge, said Mr Laidlaw.

He added that it was rumoured that Mr Madden had cheated the younger robbers and that Hakeem had the money.

"Over and above the shocking nature of this shooting, the tragedy is that these two defendants killed the wrong person," said Mr Laidlaw.

"They killed Hakeem's younger brother Michael. It was he who was asleep in that back bedroom. He had done nothing wrong."

The trial continues.
