Dead student 'beaten and stabbed'
Michael Alexander Jones
Police described Michael as hard working
An 18-year-old student found murdered in his home died from severe head injuries and a stab wound to the chest, police have revealed.

A post mortem examination was carried out on Michael Jones after his body was found by his mother at their flat in Stanley Road, Edmonton, north London.

Mr Jones was a student at Queen Mary University in east London and described by police as a "hard working lad".

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses into the murder on Thursday.

"We are now aware that Michael's mother called him at about 0930 GMT and spoke to him on the phone," said Det Ch Insp John MacDonald.

"We are keen to discover his movements between 0930 GMT and 1700 GMT before he was discovered at his home.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who noticed anything suspicious in Stanley Road or noticed anyone entering or leaving the family home."
