Clergyman in 'hate crime' attack
A clergyman was attacked in the grounds of his church by two youths in what police are treating as a "hate crime".

Canon Michael Ainsworth, 57, also had his "occupation insulted" during the attack at St George-in-the-East Church in Shadwell, east London.

He was treated for cuts, bruises and two black eyes on 5 March.

A police spokesman said the three men, two of whom attacked the canon, were described as Asian and fled the scene by the time officers had arrived.
