A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy who died after being beaten with a brick.

Ofiyke Nmezu, 16, from Upper Edmonton, London, died in hospital last Friday.

Two weeks earlier he had been approached in High Street, Ponders End, by three men who got out of a car and hit him over the head with a brick.

Liam Palmer, 18, of Thaxted, Essex, is due to appear before magistrates later. Police are still quizzing a 21-year-old and a 15-year-old.

Police also want to trace a person they say was in the Volkswagen car.

Police said Ofiyke, who was known as Iyke, was injured in an attack on 15 February but did not inform police or seek medical attention for two weeks.
