A teenager from north London has died two weeks after suffering a head injury during an assault.

Ofiyke Nmezu, 16, from Upper Edmonton, died a few hours after going to North Middlesex Hospital on Friday. The cause of death was a fractured skull.

Ofiyke, who was known as Iyke, received the injuries on 15 February, but he did not report the attack to police, or seek medical attention for two weeks.

A murder inquiry has begun, although no arrests have been made so far.

Dozens of tributes to the teenager have been left in Fore Street, Edmonton.

Messages were also left online, with one comment stating: "You were so smart, I miss you my brother."
