Yellow boxes calm Tube platforms

Road-style markings have been introduced at London Underground stations to stop passengers crowding around train doors.

The yellow box junctions have been painted on platforms at 10 stations on the Jubilee Line.

Transport for London is running the trial to find out if platform markings can cut passenger congestion.

The boxes are designed to prevent people blocking doors when the trains stop at the station.

Richard Parry, from London Underground, said: "People, by keeping out of the way of the doors, will enable customers to alight more quickly.

"They can get on the trains more quickly and the trains can get out of the stations more quickly.

"With more people using the Tube that ever before it is actually the small differences that we can make at each of the stations that will prevent delays."
