Boy dies in New Year's day fire

A four-year-old boy died in a house fire on New Year's Day.

The child was found by firefighters in the bedroom at the property in Willowtree Way in Thornton Heath in south-east London.

London Fire Brigade said two people managed to escape from the fire and were treated by ambulance crews for shock and smoke inhalation.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire which began at about 0200 GMT.
