The mother of a 17-year-old gunned down at a south London ice rink has made an appeal to witnesses for information about his killers.

James Andre Smartt-Ford, of New Malden, south-west London, was shot twice at Streatham Ice Arena on 3 February.

His mother Tracey Ford told the BBC's Crimewatch: "Words can't describe how I miss him."

Nine people, including seven youths, were arrested over the incident and bailed. No-one has been charged.

In the appeal, to be broadcast on Thursday night, Ms Ford said: "You don't expect to bury your children.

"You don't give them life for it to be so tragically ended."

Speaking of those who had shot her son, she said: "I don't know how they live, knowing what they've done, knowing that they've taken away our son. They've destroyed a family."

The shooting took place during a disco attended by up to 350 people.

James was shot near the entrance to the venue at about 2300 GMT and later died in hospital.

Crimewatch will also show a reconstruction of the murder during the programme.
