Pedicabs sign good behaviour code
Pedicabs in London's Soho
Many pedicab drivers flout traffic regulations, said the council
London's largest pedicab operator has signed up to a new code of conduct aimed at improving safety.

London Pedicabs Operators Association (LPOA) has agreed to insure all its drivers, provide training and regularly service their bikes.

Rear-ridden pedicabs are excluded from the code as Westminster Council considers them to be unsafe.

There are an estimated 600 pedicabs in the West End and the council said many flout traffic and parking regulations.

The code also requires double braking systems and a commitment by all drivers to show courtesy to other road users.

The council, which devised the code, is looking at creating designated parking spaces and pick-up points for signatories to the code.
