City boss on child murder charge

An insurance executive has been charged with the murder of his two-year-old daughter, Scotland Yard has revealed.

Alberto Izaga, 36, of Albert Embankment in central London, was charged with the murder of Yanire who died on 3 June.

She was found with life-threatening injuries at the home of Mr Izaga, who works for insurance firm Swiss Re.

Mr Izaga appeared before City of Westminster magistrates and was conditionally bailed to appear at the Central Criminal Court on 9 January.

Yanire died in hospital two days after she was found injured.

A post-mortem examination on 7 June gave a preliminary finding that she died as a result of a head injury.

Mr Izaga, a Spanish national, was suspended from his position at Swiss Re after the incident.
