Bank Holiday blood donors needed
Blood
Events like the Notting Hill Carnival prevent people from donating
Londoners are being urged to give blood this weekend in a bid to avert the traditional dip in donors over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The Notting Hill Carnival, Leeds and Reading Festival are 'distractions' to getting more people to give blood, says the National Blood Service (NBS).

Hospitals in England and north Wales need about 8,000 units of blood a day to meet demand.

Only five percent of the eligible population are registered donors.
