Girl died from chest stab wound
Law House
Social services said the mother did not have any mental health issues
A two-year-old girl found dead in an east London flat died from a stab wound to the chest.

The body of Trycia Balhous was found in Law House, Maybury Road, Barking, on Tuesday at 0015 BST.

Her mother, Ntsimbi Galtricia, 23, was found lying beside her suffering from stab wounds. Her condition is stable.

Police are not looking for anyone else over the death but will ask why experts found the mother fit enough to care for her daughter days before she died.

Ntsimbi Galtricia was arrested on suspicion of harassing local people the day before her social service assessment by Barking and Dagenham Council on 9 August, but released without charge.

Despite her increasingly erratic behaviour, which had led her neighbours to call the police, the council said she was found not to have any mental healthcare issues.

Police are still trying to trace the father of the girl. He is believed to be in Paris.
