A police officer has appeared in court charged with murdering a City worker.

Lee Cook, 21, from Essex, was hit at least three times at the Alibi Bar on Friday night before he died.

City of London officer Adam Lowe, 26, of Sawbridgeworth, Herts, appeared alongside Lloyd Moore, 26, from Epping, Essex, who is also charged with murder.

Both were remanded in custody until November along with third murder suspect Rick Maynard, 27, from Woodford Green, north-east London.

The victim, Mr Cook, of Harold Wood, worked as a barrister's clerk at Francis Taylor Building.

City of London Police Commander Patrick Rice said: "We are deeply disappointed that one of our officers has been charged in connection with this investigation.

"He has been suspended from duty and justice must now take its course."
