Former Dome sells 1m gig tickets
Jon Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi will be the first to play at the 02 in June
The O2 Arena, the former Millennium Dome, has sold 1m advance tickets for upcoming concerts.

Bon Jovi, whose concert has already sold out, will be the first band to play at the re-opened venue in Greenwich, south London, on 24 June.

Other acts scheduled include Barbra Streisand, Justin Timberlake, Take That, The Rolling Stones and Prince.

The 20,000-seater arena has undergone a refit to host music, entertainment and sporting events.

02 owners AEG Europe said the acoustics have been designed specifically for modern musicians and every seat will have a clear view.

David Campbell, of AEG Europe, said: "We've got London's newest state-of-the-art venue, with the world's most exciting artists all wanting to perform here - and the public flocking to see them.

"I know that when people experience the O2 they'll come back again and again to enjoy more world-class concerts, events and exhibitions."

The Tutankhamun exhibition will open there in November.

The O2 is also an official venue for the 2012 Olympics, hosting gymnastics and basketball.
