A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man who was shot in the head last year.

John Seton, of no fixed address, is charged with killing 29-year-old Jon Bartlett, a mechanic, from Mottingham, south-east London, on 31 March 2006.

He appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Saturday and has been remanded in custody until 17 August for a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey.

Mr Bartlett was murdered in Chislehurst, south-east London.

Gunshot wound

Mr Seton was extradited from Amsterdam in The Netherlands on 11 May and taken to a south London police station where he was charged.

Mr Bartlett was shot once and died instantly.

A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Police issued appeals in November last year to trace Mr Seton in connection with police enquiries.
