Fifth arrest over cyclist robbery

A fifth person has been arrested over a robbery that left a cyclist with serious head injuries.

Jane Gauntlett, 25, from north-west London, fell from her bike when her bag was grabbed by moped riders as she rode along Harrow Road in Maida Vale.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday and four other teenagers are still being questioned by police.

Ms Gauntlett remains in a critical condition in hospital after the robbery which happened on Saturday afternoon.

She was found by officers lying in the round close to the Travis Perkins roundabout.

Det Insp James Raphael said: "She was cycling along Harrow Road when suspects on two mopeds approached from behind.

"One has grabbed her bag off her back. This has led to her falling off her bike and hitting her head."

He added that others may also have been involved in the robbery.
