A woman is being questioned by police investigating the deaths of two children at a flat in east London.

Detectives launched a murder investigation after officers made the discovery in Hackney on Saturday.

A 10-year-old boy and three-year-old girl were found dead by the Met police Child Abuse Investigation team.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the scene, and police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Officers were called at about 0925 GMT to an address in Pembury Close where the children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police says they know the identity of the victims but will inform the next of kin before releasing further details.

Post-mortem examinations are yet to be carried out on the two children.
