Rape accused had 'sex tips list'
Emily Maitlis
Mr Decoteau was said to have a picture of Emily Maitlis by his bed
A man accused of raping a woman during an armed robbery at an Ann Summers shop had drawn up a "sex tips list" for himself, Southwark Crown Court heard.

David Decoteau, 45, had also made "scribblings" about rape and kept a picture of BBC newsreader Emily Maitlis next to his bed, prosecutors claimed.

An Ann Summers party flyer was found in his pocket, prosecutors claimed.

Mr Decoteau of Camberwell, south-east, London, denies rape, indecent assault, robbery and false imprisonment.

He also denies a charge of possessing a handgun to commit the robbery in one of the firm's London stores in February 1996.

'Violent act'

Jurors earlier heard how Mr Decoteau threatened to "blow [the shop assistant's] brains out". He stole £1,500 from the safe before raping her, the court heard.

When a review of all unsolved sex cases was ordered by the government several years later he was arrested for the attack.

Prosecutor Allison Hunter said after his arrest a search of the bail hostel were he lived was carried out.

She claimed notes were found which read: "Rape is a violent act about anger and aggression and pathologically abnormal assertions of power over the victim."

In a list of sex tips he allegedly made suggestions such as "avoiding alcohol".

Mr Decoteau allegedly made reference to the novel Fanny Hill and the final entry read "Jacqueline Gold, head of Ann Summers, £155m business." The case continues.
