Largest haul of Oxford St fakes
Seized goods
Goods seized included handbags, watches and sunglasses
One of the largest ever hauls of fake goods in Oxford Street has been seized by trading standards officers.

A raid on seven retailers along the shopping district uncovered merchandise with an estimated street value of about £250,000.

Seized items included counterfeit handbags, watches, sunglasses, leather biker jackets and rock band T-shirts.

Many of the items were copies of well-known luxury brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Nike.

Councillor Audrey Lewis, from Westminster Council, said: "This is one of the biggest raids we've had with regards to the potential street value of the goods we seized.

"The retail of fake goods in shops is an offence which we take very seriously in Westminster. Our action sends a clear message that we are a step ahead of their game and will not let this crime go unpunished."
