Prisoner moved to Belmarsh prison
Joe Farnan
Farnan has been transferred to Belmarsh Prison
A convicted gunman recaptured after allegedly being freed from an ambulance by two masked men has been remanded to a high security prison.

Joe Farnan, of Bermondsey, south London, is charged with escaping from custody and breaking out of prison by means of other people using violence.

Farnan, 27, will be moved from Wormwood Scrubs prison to the high security Belmarsh Prison in south-east London.

He is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 5 April.

Farnan was arrested by police in Docklands, east London, on Friday.

A woman in her 20s who was also arrested, was released on bail until March.

Farnan was surrounded by armed police when appeared at the City of Westminster Magistrate's Court.

His solicitor declined to enter a plea and did not file an application for bail.
