Khuynhty Hong and his wife Lan Hong
Khuynhty Hong suffered serious head injuries
A man who was thrown from his car when he tried to stop a thief driving off in it has died.

Charity worker Khuynhty Hong, 38, was critically injured when he was hit by the vehicle in Abercairn Road, Streatham, south London, on Wednesday.

The father-of-three, from Streatham, suffered head injuries and was being treated at a south London hospital.

His car, a grey Honda Civic, was found not far from where he was hit on Friday. A murder inquiry has started.

Mr Hong, who had left his car engine running, came out of his house to find a man in the driving seat of his car.

Died in hospital

He jumped onto the bonnet in an attempt to stop the car from being driven away but the man drove off with him still on.

When the car reached the end of Abercairn Road and turned left into Bencroft Road, Mr Hong fell off.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "He (Mr Hong) was taken to hospital but later died."

Det Insp Tim Lewis said: "The man who drove away Mr Hong's car is described as black, about 25 years old, possibly wearing a grey cap."

He said he is appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident to contact the police.
