Arian Julius Arthur
Mr Arthur was celebrating a birthday
Police have named a man who was shot dead in a bar while celebrating a friend's birthday.

Arian Julius Arthur, 22, from Clapham, south London, was murdered in The Jam in Shoreditch High Street, east London, in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said he was with a group of friends when there was an argument with another man, leading to the shooting.

Operation Trident, which probes gun crime in London's Afro-Caribbean communities, is investigating.

Appealing for witnesses, Det Ch Insp Scott Wilson said: "We believe between 30 and 50 people were inside the club at the time.

"The victim was with a group of five or six friends celebrating a friend's birthday in the basement of the club. We believe there was an altercation, which resulted in the victim being shot.

"The suspect, a black man, was seen leaving hurriedly and we are also appealing to anyone who may have seen him".
