Some 200,000 fake DVDs have been seized in one of the UK's largest hauls of pirate Bollywood movies.

They were among a 13-tonne haul of goods recovered by police in a raid of 11 units at a self-storage business in Hayes, west London.

Pirate Hollywood and pornographic DVDs, fake trainers and sports clothing were also among goods worth an up to £5m.

Four people were arrested, three cars and £6,000 in cash were seized, and further arrests are expected.

About 75% of all DVDs netted were Bollywood titles, according to Ealing Council trading standards.

'Major impact'

"This is without doubt the biggest seizure of Bollywood film and DVDs, " said Roz Groome, of the British Phonographic Industry.

DVD titles include Don, Umrojaan and Jaaneman, Saw III, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, Borat, and The Devil Wears Prada.

The police and trading standards investigation into the smuggling ring was called Operation Don after the eponymous Bollywood action film.

The raids at the Shurgard site, on Uxbridge Road in Hayes, near Southall, took place on 10 and 15 November.

Ealing councillor Will Brooks film piracy was not a victimless crime as the proceeds supported organised crime.

"Smashing this ring at its heart will have a major impact on the counterfeit market in west London and beyond," he said.
