Disabled workers demonstrated at Arsenal's stadium in protest against the impending closure of a factory.

The Remploy site was purchased by the club a few months ago and workers were asked to vacate the premises by March next year, the GMB union said.

Remploy employs 5,000 disabled workers in 83 sites across the UK.

Remploy spokesperson, Shiona Williams, said the Arsenal site had been a compulsory purchase and they had until March to decide how best to go forward.

She added that the Minister for the Disabled had asked Remploy for a five-year plan, which was being discussed with the unions.

It is thought about 100 people staged the demonstration but police have not confirmed this figure.

The demonstration passed off peacefully outside the new stadium before the club's home game on Saturday.
