Arrest over flat explosion threat
A man who threatened to blow up his flat when his local council tried to evict him, has been arrested.

The flats at Sudbury House in Wandsworth, south-west London, were evacuated and the Southside shopping centre was closed.

Officers were called when the man assaulted Wandsworth Council officials.

They mediated with the man who said he had turned the gas on to blow up the flat. He has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The two officials from Wandsworth Council were taken to hospital, but police said their injuries were not life threatening.

The shopping centre has re-opened and residents allowed to return to their flats.
