Man charged over officer shooting
Dean Stanbury
Dean Stanbury was arrested in Waltham Forest
A man has been charged in connection with the shooting of an undercover police officer on Tuesday.

Dean Stanbury, 20, of Walthamstow, east London, faces charges including attempted murder of a police officer and firearms offences.

Two unarmed officers, in plain clothes, were in a car when a number of shots were fired, hitting one of them in the shoulder in Leytonstone, east London.

Mr Stanbury will appear before Waltham Forest magistrates court on Monday.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the 44-year-old police officer was now out of hospital and recovering at home.

The officers, attached to the Violent Crime Directorate, had been working on a surveillance operation in the Waltham Forest area.

Five men were arrested following the shooting and were bailed to return to London police stations at a later date.
