A teenager has been charged over the stabbing of a store supervisor who confronted a gang of suspected thieves.

The 17-year-old, from Wood Green, north London, is due to appear at Highgate Magistrates' Court accused of wounding with intent.

Rudy Takkou, 19, lost four litres of blood after being knifed seven times at Wood Green Shopping City on 31 May.

Two youths, aged 17 and 16, who were arrested last week, have been bailed until August.

Mr Takkou was released from North Middlesex Hospital on Tuesday after undergoing surgery.

His mother, Maria Takkou, has urged parents to help put an end to children carrying knives.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses in the shopping centre on the day of the attack to come forward.
