A man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after two people were shot in north London.

John Laidlaw, 23, of Sussex Way, Holloway, will appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The charges follow the shooting of a man in Upper Street, Islington, on Wednesday afternoon.

Minutes later, a woman was hit in the back near the Wells Terrace entrance to Finsbury Park underground station as another man allegedly came under fire.

Mr Laidlaw is also accused of illegal possession of a firearm.

A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the incidents has been bailed by police until June while inquiries continue.

A 43-year-old man remains in a critical but stable condition after being shot just outside Starbucks coffee house and the Fez Bar in Islington.
