Man charged with firebomb murders
The scene in Clapham Road
Two men died as a result of the fire
A man has been charged with murdering two people in an arson attack on a south London store.

Robert Torto, 32, of Stockwell Park Road, was remanded in custody until 10 August when he appeared in court on Thursday, accused of two murders.

Khizer Hayat, 40, died inside the Price Cutter shop in Kennington, last Thursday. His colleague, Hamidullah Hamidi, died six days later.

Two other employees escaped by running through the flames onto the street.

Mr Torto is also charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

It follows attacks on a newsagent in Tulse Hill on 14 April and one at a corner shop in South Norwood six days later.

He was remanded in custody at Greenwich Magistrates' Court on Thursday to reappear at the Old Bailey.
