Peter Oduwole
Police do not know why Peter Oduwole was shot
A music promoter has been shot dead in the street in east London.

Police think Peter Oduwole was handing out flyers in Hackney for a music event when he was gunned down.

Witnesses described hearing gunshots and seeing Mr Oduwole, also known as Peter Costa Nostra, staggering in Hackney Road on Sunday evening.

Police do not know why he was killed. They describe him as a well-respected businessman, known for music promotions in London and Europe.

The Metropolitan Police's Operation Trident, which specialises in gun crime among the black community, is investigating.

They know he travelled to east London on Sunday evening and was in Hackney Road at about 2030 BST.

Det Ch Insp Scott Wilson said: "We continue to look for a motive to explain why Peter was murdered.

"In piecing together the final hours of Peter's life, we are appealing for anyone who travelled with Peter to east London to come forward.

"We are also appealing for any sightings of people acting suspiciously in the area to come forward."
