Family search for missing teacher
Sarah Flooks

The family of a teacher who vanished more than a week ago are heading to London to help with the search.

Tim Flooks and Sally Childs will leave Bridgwater, Somerset, to join the search for their sister, Sarah Flooks, 50, in Wanstead, east London.

She told her partner she was leaving for work on 2 March, but never turned up and has not been heard from since.

Police have been searching parkland around her home, but her family say she may have gone back to the West Country.

Mr Flooks said he had not ruled out "foul play", but believes she may have travelled back to her native Somerset or to Cornwall - where she used to go on holiday as a child.

We are just at a loss, to be honest
Mr Flooks

"We just want to know either way," he said.

"We are just at a loss, to be honest. If she has had a breakdown and flipped, it would be amazing if she has flipped for so long."

On the day she disappeared, Ms Flooks told her partner John Mouzourous she might be late home that night.

She left her home in Wanstead Park Avenue at 0700 GMT, but never arrived at work.

'Strong character'

Her car was still parked where she is believed to have parked it the night before.

Her school, Monega Primary, was having an Ofsted inspection on that day.

Head teacher Robert Henney said: "You cannot rule out completely that Sarah was under pressure and stressed by the situation, but she has been through Ofsted inspections before and she is a very strong character," he said.

"She is one of my senior teachers. She is such a good professional that Ofsted would not have held that much fear for her."

Staff at the school have organised a leaflet drop to appeal for information about her disappearance.

She has shoulder-length red hair, is about 6ft and wears glasses.
