Obituary: Emily Jenkins

Emily Jenkins was 'a lively and funny girl' with many friends
Her ambitions to be a midwife were driven by her love of children.

Emily Jenkins was on her way to work, as a trainee in her favoured profession, when she boarded the southbound Piccadilly Line Tube which exploded.

Her half-brother James Bowles heard from her at 0845 BST when she was at King's Cross station and about to head towards Russell Square.

In a statement her family said: "Emily was the youngest of four children of Nick and Sarah Jenkins of Kew, Surrey. She had a love of life and a great ability to bring out the best in people.

"Her love of children had set her on the path to becoming a midwife.

"Emily will be remembered for her enthusiasm and her deep passion for her family and friends.

"She touched all who met her and will be sorely missed."

'Extremely kind'

Rachael Oliver-Redgate, who was an A-level classmate of Emily's at Surbiton High School, said: "I always remember her with a cheeky smile on her face.

It's such a shame that someone so young has had their life cut short in such a tragic way - she will be missed

"She was a lively and funny girl, always surrounded by her friends.

"She was also extremely kind and caring and would have made a great midwife.

"It's such a shame that someone so young has had their life cut short in such a tragic way. She will be missed."

'Incredibly personable'

David Morgan, head of sixth form, was Emily's physics teacher.

He told the Richmond and Twickenham Times: "While at school Emily was incredibly personable, bubbly and very popular with staff and students alike.

"When she was at school she had plans to run her own restaurant.

"I am not surprised to hear she went into midwifery. She was really out-going and equally related easily to her peers and staff at the school."
