Obituary: Samantha Badham

Lee Harris and Samantha Badham planned an anniversary meal
On 7 July, Samantha Badham left her car at home and got the Tube to work with her partner Lee Harris.

The change of plan was due to a romantic dinner the couple planned to enjoy after work, two days before their 14th anniversary.

So it was a rare commute on the Underground for Ms Badham, a 35-year-old web designer and content editor, from the home she shared with Mr Harris in Tottenham.

It was their tragic misfortune to be on the same Piccadilly Line train as Germaine Lindsay, who detonated his bomb in the front carriage.

Parents died

Ms Badham was formally identified by police on 16 July, a day after Mr Harris died in hospital.

Samantha Badham was from Ledbury in Herefordshire and went to Ledbury Primary School and John Masefield High School.

They were a devoted couple - we will miss them both and will always make them proud of us in what we do, as we were proud of them
Family statement

She met Mr Harris when she was on the committee of Hereford's Lads' Club and he was a teenager preparing for his Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.

She suffered tragic news when her parents died while she was in her early 20s.

Joanna Bromley (nee Burns) was a close friend of Ms Badham at school.

She told the Observer: "Sam was head girl, which I think says it all. She was an all-rounder, studious and sporty, and truly liked by everyone.

"My heart goes out to Louise, Sam's younger sister."

'Devoted couple'

A statement from the Badham and Harris families said: "They were a devoted couple.

"We will miss them both and will always make them proud of us in what we do, as we were proud of them."

Relatives paid their respects in London, when they bade a silent farewell in Russell Square, above the spot where the Tube train was ripped apart, on Sunday 24 July.

They were buried together on 5 August after a joint funeral service in Ledbury.
