A police officer has denied assaulting a protester during last September's pro-hunting demo in Parliament Square.
Neil Latteman, 43, a Metropolitan Police constable, appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Thursday accused of assaulting the demonstrator.
He is alleged to have thrown two unprovoked and unnecessary punches at the complainant, Mark Faulkner.
The officer was released on unconditional bail until 26 May when a date is expected to be fixed for trial.
He has been removed from operational duties pending the outcome of the case.
The officer was summonsed to appear following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission into the demonstration.
