Teenagers quizzed over gay murder

Three teenage boys have been arrested and bailed over the murder of a gay man beaten to death on Clapham Common.

They were questioned on Monday about the death of 24-year-old bar manager Jody Dobrowski who was found beaten on the south London common.

Mr Dobrowski died from head, neck and facial injuries in what police believe was a homophobic attack.

The two 17-year-olds and a 13-year-old, arrested in Battersea, south-west London, were released on bail.

The Metropolitan Police only revealed the arrests on Tuesday morning, after the suspects had been freed.

Anonymous caller

A police spokesman said the three were initially held on suspicion of motor vehicle offences.

They were subsequently arrested on Monday afternoon and questioned in connection with the murder.

They have been released on bail until a date in November.

Detectives have urged a man, who made an anonymous phone call about the murder, to contact them again.

Good response

Ch Supt Joe Royle, said they had received a good response from the public but were keen to hear from a man in the Surrey area, who called at 1715 BST on Sunday.

Earlier they appealed for about 10 or 12 people they believed were on the common at the time, to come forward.

Police also want to trace Mr Dobrowski's movements between 2215 BST, when he left a friend's house near the common, and just after midnight when the police found him.

Detectives are examining whether there is a link between Mr Dobrowski's murder and a series of homophobic attacks in the area.
