The pupils are learning how to be more environmentally-friendly
Pupils are learning about solar power as well as reaping the benefits of it after panels were installed at their school in London.

The panels were put on the roof of Burdett-Coutts CE Primary over the summer holidays and they will generate enough power to run an entire floor.

The system also annually saves 392kg of carbon dioxide emissions.

Renewable Energy Action for London (REAL) and EDF Energy helped pay for the Pimlico school's equipment.

The panels and installation cost £8,500.

Head teacher John Hicks said as well as being ecologically sound, the solar panels would cut energy costs long-term.

The children are learning about the benefits of the panels and how to be more ecological.

Pupil Bai Turagabeci, 10, said: "It is important that we look after our environment and I know that using renewable energy is good for our planet as it stops using up the world's coal and oil."
