Firefighter 'shot' tackling blaze
Burnt out shop
Two men were rescued from the fire
A firefighter has been shot at with an air rifle as he tackled a blaze in south London.

The 41-year-old was on the roof of the building in Stockwell Road on Friday when he was hit by a pellet.

He was hit close to the collarbone but escaped serious injury as the pellet lodged in his protective clothing.

Police want to trace a gang of up to six youths believed to have been on a fourth floor balcony of a block of flats in Stockwell Gardens Estate.

Firefighters were at the three-storey building, which contained a kebab shop and dry cleaners with flats above, at about 1500 GMT when they came under fire.

Two men rescued from the fire were taken to hospital and treated for inhaling smoke.
