Doctor on hospital rape charge

A doctor has appeared in court charged with rape at an east London hospital.

Jan Falkowski, 44, from The Highway, in Tower Hamlets, east London, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

Mr Falkowski, who spoke only to confirm his name, is accused of carrying out the rape at St Clements Hospital, in Bow, in June 2002.

The doctor was bailed until a plea and directions hearing due to take place at Southwark Crown Court on 22 March.
