Woman stabbed friend after wake
A woman has been jailed for life for stabbing her friend to death after they had been drinking heavily at a wake.

Helen Hibbs, 44, of South Norwood, south London, was cleared of murdering Eric Daggars in January, but was convicted of his manslaughter.

Joanna Korner, prosecuting at the Old Bailey, said they had been drinking companions and were both alcoholics.

After returning to Mr Daggars' home in Croydon, south London, Hibbs became abusive and stabbed him twice.

Judge Jeremy Roberts said it was a tragic case for all concerned and Hibbs would serve a minimum of three years before she would be considered for parole.
